Full Metal Jacket – Screening at Griesmühle – 13/08/2018

Full Metal Jacket is one of the most famous and influential movies of all times. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, his take on the Vietnam War is widely recognised as a magnificent statement on the horrors and pointlessness of war.

The film follows Private Davis and pudgy Private Lawrence as they endure the rigors of basic training. Though Lawrence takes a frightening detour, Davis graduates to the Marine Corps. The Corps sends him to Vietnam as a journalist. Here he covers and eventually participates in the bloody Battle of Hué.

The screening starts at 9:15 pm, Sonnenallee 221. You’ll find the Mobile Kino at Griessmuehle right behind the S-Bahn station Sonnenallee.

IT screening at Freiluftkino Hasenheide on 31st of July 2018

The FREILUFTKINO HASENHEIDE shows the amazing horror movie ‘IT’. It’s a remake of the horror classic based on the novel by Stephen King.

When mysterious kidnappings occour in the city of Derry a group of young kids investigates. Quickly however they have to face their deepest fears, when they come face to face with the gruesome clown Pennywise.

‘IT’ was a huge success when it was released in 2017. If you’re up for a little scare, this is your chance.

Oh Boy screening at Freiluftkino Rehberge on the 30th of July 2018

“Oh Boy” was one of the most exciting movies of 2012. Nearly six years after its release it has turned into a classic of German cinema.

Tom Schilling plays Niko Fischer. He’s a university dropout drifting through Berlin, attempting to make sense of his life. He spends one fateful day wandering around, stumbling from one situation into the next.

Freiluftkino Rehberge shows “Oh Boy” in its original German version with English subtitles. The screening starts at 9pm.

La La Land – Screening at Freiluftkino Hasenheide – 23rd of July 2018

Monday’s are perfect for a good movie under the stars. This Monday, 23/07/2018, the open air cinema FREILUFTKINO HASENHEIDE will show a screening of La La Land.

The six times Oscar awarded La La Land is of one of the best movies of recent years. It tells the story of a charismatic Jazz musician, played by Ryan Gosling, and a striving actress, played by Emma Stone. They’re trying to make ends meet in Hollywood and struggling with love in the process. It’s a must see really.

09/07/2018 – Hitchcock Retrospective at BABYLON Cinema Berlin

Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most iconic directors of all times. There’s barely anybody who hasn’t seen one of his films or at least has heard of him. They’re visionary pieces of cinematic greatness, made to outlive generations.

For the last couple of weeks the BABYLON Berlin has been showing a retrospective of some of Hitchcocks greatest works. Only until the 11th of July you’ll be able to see some of the masterpieces of this cinematic heavy weight on the big screen. It’s the way it’s meant to be seen, thus don’t miss out!

01/07/2018 – 50 Year’s Anniversary Screening of “2001 – A Space Odyssey”

The Filmrauschpalast Moabit shows Stanley Kubrick’s “2001 – A Space Odyssey” and it’s going to be awesome.

It’s been 50 years since the movie was first released. Ever since it has been considered to be one of the most influential pieces of cinematic artistry ever created. It crosses borders of genre and style. A timeless classic and right on time for it’s anniversary the Filmrauspalast shows it on the BIG screen.

To celebrate its anniversary there will be screenings of the restored 70mm 4K-DCP version of “2001 – A Space Odyssey”. Additionally the Filmrauschpalast will have several screenings of the 35mm version of “2001 – A Space Odyssey” too.

It’s a must for anyone who likes film and for anyone who wants to see history first hand.

On the 1st of July the Filmrauschpalast is showing the 35mm version at 2:30pm.

12/06/2018 – Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” at Kino Arsenal

Film geeks listen up: For their Series Magical History Tour – Light in Film the cinema Arsenal – Institut für Film und Videokunst e.V. will show Christopher Nolan’s award-winning epic blockbuster “Dunkirk”. If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth watching one of the best movies of 2017 in one of Berlin’s most cinephile cinemas.

18/05/2018 – Hellraiser at Midnight

Hellraiser is a horror classic and this Friday, May 18th, Saal 2 – Programmkino in Prenzlauer Berg screens this bone chilling piece of film history at midnight. So if you haven’t seen Hellraiser, this is your chance to make up on some popcultural history. It’ll be worth it.

Hellraiser – Der Horrorklassiker zu Mitternacht starts at 23:59 at Saal 2, Schliemannstraße 15. It will be he original version with German subtitles.

Berlin Premiere “Wildes Herz” am Mittwoch

Cinema is fun, especially when the movie is a gem like this one. Join Jan “Monchi” Gorkow, lead singer of Feine Sahne Fischfilet, at the moment one of Germany’s most influential punk bands, making his way through Germany’s north-east, it’s where he’s from, it’s where he celebrates his biggest successes and worst setbacks. “Wildes Herz” is definitely worth a peak. The Berlin premier will be at the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain.
