On Thursday the 21.6 the Fête de la Musique will take place in Berlin. The Fête de la Musique is an Open Air free Festival with stages all over Berlin. Street artists, Musicians and everybody who likes to show the world their very special talents is welcome to perform on the streets of Berlin. There is no special licence needed. As always our district Berlin Friedrichshain is very busy on this special day. Stages are everywhere and spontaneous Open Air parties guarantee you a wonderful summer day and with the Fête de la Nuit the party will not end before the next day. As usual the big question is where to go. If you don’t have a plan already checkout their Homepage for the program. But believe me you are not the only one and just like every other year the server which hosts the Homepage can get a little busy. Freiluftkino Friedrichshain

Located at the Volkspark Friedrichshain, it is the biggest open air cinema in Berlin. A place to watch classic Hollywood movies like “The Artist”, “Drive”, “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” as well as the famous Berlin short movie night “Kuirzfilmrolle”.

This open air cinema is located in Berlin Kreuzberg in a backyard of the art house Bethanien on Mariannenplatz. Kreuzberg is known as the multicultural district of Berlin, same goes for the Kreuzberg open air cinema. Most of the movies are shown in their original version with German subtitles. They will be screening high quality movies like “Charly Chaplin – The great Dictator” or Roman Polanski’s – Carnage”.

Freiluftkino Insel Cassiopeia

The open air cinema Insel is located at the Cassiopeia compound right in the centre of Berlin’s district Friedrichshain. Every Monday, Thursday and Sunday they will show movies in their original language with subtitles in German or English. At the opening night they show a movie about Berlin in the 90s “Berlinized Sexy an Eis”. Also, the upcoming program will feature many local movies and independent productions. The Freiluftkino Insel at the Cassiopeia is just a short walk from the hostel. And the bars and clubs in this part of Friedrichshian invite you to enjoy a hot summer night.

Bald ist es wieder so weit. Alle warten schon wie verrückt auf das Ereignis des Jahres. Touristen Berliner und wir im U inn Berlin Hostel Silvester steht vor der Tür. Ende Dezember wird es wie immer voll in Berlin. Silvester wird gefeiert und das nicht nur auf der großen Silvester Party am Brandenburger Tor. Sondern auch in den vielen Bezirken von Berlin. Wir laden Euch ein zu Silvester in Berlin Friedrichshain. Das im Bezirk Berlin Friedrichshain gerne gefeiert wird ist über die Grenzen Deutschlands bekannt. Ob Berghain, Watergate oder die Ravaler Str. Hier wird das Neue Jahr wohl am extremsten in Berlin gefeiert.

Ubernachten in Berlin

Legendär sind auch die Partys auf der Warschauer Brücke, der Moderson Brücke und der Oberbaumbrücke die Berlin Friedrichshain und Kreuzberg die beiden Trendbezirke verbindet. Wer lieber im Friedrichshain feiert hat nur ein paar Minuten bis zu Simon-Dach Straße oder der Revaler Str. mit ihren vielen Clubs zu laufen. Berlin Festival with Public Enemy, Boy Gorge and Boys Noize

On the 9th-10th of August, the Berlin Festival will once again take place at the old Tempelhof Airport. The Tempelhof Airport is an awesome location, with the main terminal providing shelter in case of a rainy day. However, we should stay positive! With such a stellar lineup, the Berlin Festival once agin gets a top position in the field of Indie Electro festivals in Europe. They still manage to keep a good mix between Hipster Indie and Freaky Berlin Stylish Electro. Hey, Whoever thought that you would see Public Enemy and Boy George on the same Festival … Interesting!!

Tempelhof Airport is situated right in the middle of Berlin, so there were some problems last year with their neighbours. This year, the festival is split into two parts. Part one is the Berlin Festival during the day at the airport. Part two is the Club X-Berg Festival at the Berlin Arena in Kreuzberg. The Berlin Arena is well known for housing big events, so we can expect a huge non-stop party!

“We call it Wasserschlacht” Food fight at Oberbaumbrücke August 28th 2011

Wasserschlacht oder Gemüseschlacht – Water-fight or Food-fight! Call it as you like! The last Wasserschlacht took place in 2008 at the Oberbaumbrücke between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. And it was an epic event. No need to guess who won the fight coz as always Friedrichshian WON!! Why we do it?

Simple answer! Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg were once 2 separate districts. But politicians made a decision and now it is one big district. They take care of all the basic stuff like new street name signes and so on…But they forgot the far most important question. Who will be the king in the new born district. hat’s what the fight is about and so far Friedrichshain always wins. The last Wasserschlacht took place 4 years ago and now Kreuzberg claims once agin that the throne belongs to them.

We want you to help Friedichshain and join us on the 28th of August at 12am at the Oberbaumbrücke. Equip yourself with a camouflage rubbish bag a water gun and some old vegetables. Everything what is old rotten or soft is allowed. Prepare yourself to get a little dirty 🙂

Wir alle können uns noch an die WM 2010 erinnern. Ganz Berlin zitterte gemeinsam vor den Großbildleihwänden beim Public Viewing. Heute startet die Frauenfußball-WM 2011 in Deutschland. Das bedeutet wir können das Bier wieder kaltstellen und die Liegestühle raus holen. Es ist die tollste Jahreszeit von allen “Public Viewing” In Berlin gibt es auch diesen Sommer wieder viele kleine Fußball-Oasen. Die 11 Freundinnen haben ihr WM-Quartier im Lido eingerichtet. Im Cassiopeia Freiluftkino Insel sind die Frauen am Ball unterwegs und bieten noch viel mehr als nur die Übertragung der Spiele. Fernseher ade, Insel ole heißt es auf der Insel Berlin in Treptow. 11 Freundinnen WM-Quartier im Lido

Na wer kann sich noch an die hoffnungslosen Staus vorm letztjährigen WM-Quatier der 11Freunde erinnern. Dieses Jahr wird der Ball im Lido in Kreuzberg gekickt. gezeigt derden alle Vorrundenspiele der Deutschen Frauen und alle KO Spiele. Bei grossem Interesse werden aber auch andere Vorrundenspiele übertragen. Das Lido bietet dabei Platz für bis zu 700 Fans.

The Fête de la Musique began in Paris in 1982, and was founded by the popular French cultural minister Jack Lang. The festival originated in a humble burst of musical idealism and a few power connections, and yet, in only two decades has become a wildly popular global event.

This season, the summertime musical event will draw music lovers in over 340 cities worldwide, 60 European cities, 22 of them in Germany alone. On June 21st one can hear all styles of music that is free to the public thanks to all of the musicians, bands, orchestras, choirs, soloists and DJs that perform for free on this day. In Berlin, Fête de la Musique has been produced by the Fête Company since 1995. The Highlight the Procession 12th June

On the Sunday of Pentecost, 12th June 2011, about 4.800 participants organised in 93 groups will change Kreuzberg into a sea of colours and ideas. We expect about 700.000 visitors to celebrate Berlin’s diversity along the route. The street procession focusses on the cultural richness of Berlin, and also highlights the often hidden treasures of its international cultural scene. It questions everyday life and politics. Carnival is a combined art form that embraces many aspects of artistic expression. Due to the global migration currents it is multifacetted and of mixed styles. The Carnival of Cultures is open to everybody and all forms of cultural expression. It is regarded as a platform for a proud expression of hybrid cultural identities, containing traditional and contemporary elements. It includes and attracts all age groups, professional artists and amateurs, people from all walks of life.

How to order a Döner Kebap in Berlin

Berlin Döner History

What is Döner anyway? The Berliner Döner is a Turkish fast food, invented in Berlin by a Turkish immigrant in 1971. Its white Turkish bred with salad, meat and sauce. First thing you need to know is that there are few different kinds of Döner’s. It can be served with different sauces and different kinds of meat. You can also change the make-up of the salad, so if you don’t like onions for example you can naturally leave them out, as everything else you don’t like. If you don’t like to eat the bred, you can also order the Döner on a plate.

The standard Döner is served as follows:

White bred cross and warm baked with lamb or chicken, different kinds of vegetables like onion, tomato and cucumber, corn and red cabbage. You usually have three different sauces to choose from: Garlic sauce, herbal sauce and hot sauce. It’s common to mix the hot sauce with one of the others but not garlic and herb sauce. The hot sauce is really hot and only for the brave ones – and be warned, it might burn two times. If you want to try it, we recommend asking for only a little bit hot sauce – “nur ein kleines bisschen scharfe Soße”
