U inn the World – Environmental Supplement

U inn Berlin Hostel takes its responsibility to the environment seriously. There are many aspects of the hostel business, as with much of modern life, which have a negative impact on the planet. The owners and the staff take their responsibility to the environment seriously, in both their personal and professional lives, and after serious thought and consideration they have designed the U inn the World environmental supplement. Bookings made at our hostel now attract a surcharge of 0,50€ per person per night. 100% of this money goes directly to cover costs incurred in reducing our environmental footprint.

The supplement is automatically added to all bookings made for our hostel whether the booking is made on our website, by phone or through a booking engine. The U inn the World Environmental Supplement is used to cover the following costs:

  • 100% green electricity from renewable energy sources.
  • Carbon-offsetting of the entire hostel, including the car, with Climate Positive
  • Environmentally friendly cleaning products from organic sources
  • Environmentally friendly laundry products and green power used for bed-linen (also allergy-free)
  • 100% recycled printer paper, toilet paper and paper towels
  • Biodegradable, organically sourced rubbish bags

Note that only the cost difference between standard products and the ecologically sounder choices will be charged against the fund. Any excess funds will be directed towards an ecologically sound, social project in the third world. Naturally we are open to suggestions that may improve the U inn the World supplement.
