Finally the soccer world championship is back. But still if you couldn’t afford to travel to South Africa, you can even join the world championship in Berlin via public viewing. As South Africa is in the same time zone as Germany you can watch the games without time delay. All games that will take place at 04.00 pm and 08.00 pm will be shown via public viewing in Berlin. The start is on June 11^th and the final will be one month later in South Africa, which is the 11^th July.

The biggest public viewing party takes place at the “Fanmeile” in “Straße des 17. Juni”. Although the first games of the German team will be shown on a huge screen in front of “Olympia Stadion”. But from the eighth-finals it’s going on at the “Fanmeile”. Several hundred thousands of people are expected to visit.

If you prefer a more comfortable atmosphere you can experience public viewing in many Berliner bars, beach bars, restaurants, pubs and beer gardens in Berlin.

If you want to organize a public viewing event yourself, you have to apply for a license at the “FIFA” website. You can publish your location and also find help and the most important application forms at www.public-viewing-berlin.de. Public viewing in Berlin is most popular since the world championship in 2006. So if any bar owner wants so make some money on the side, they can’t go wrong with that!

The big “Fanmeile“ at “Brandenburger Tor” only takes place at the half-finals/ eights-finals

at the final game. The big screen is 80qm.

Arena Berlin

The “Arena Berlin” will show all games of the world championship live, inside as well as outside on the big screen. All broadcasts are presented by celebrities.

Bar 25

Entrace fee: Free

The Berliner scene bar “Bar 25“ will show all games of the world soccer championship 2010.

Certainly you can party and hang out in this location before and after all games. Directly situated on the river “Spree”, this is probably one of the most beautiful public viewing locations in Berlin.

Rosi´s Klub

Revaler Str. 29, Friedrichshain

Max. Capacity: 500

The “Rosis” is situated in the “Revaler Straße“ which is the party street in Berlin. All games will be shown there. Entrance begins 1-2 hours before game start.

Yaam

Stralauer Platz 35, Friedrichshain, Tel: 615 13 54

Entrance fee: Free

You can cheer all games in the “Yaam“ club on the big screen. At the same time you get nice beach feeling.

Endlich wieder Fußball WM. Auch wer sich keine Reise nach Südafrika leisten konnte, hat in Berlin die Möglichkeit life dabei zu sein. Public Viewing macht es möglich. Da Südafrika in der gleichen Zeitzone wie Deutschland liegt, kann man die WM ohne Zeitverzögerung miterleben. In Berlin werden alle Spiele die um 16.00 und 20.00 Uhr stattfinden vìa Public Viewing übertragen. Los geht’s am 11. Juni 2010. Das Finale der Fußball WM 2010 in Südafrika findet einen Monat später am 11. Juli 2010 statt.

Die größte Public Viewing Party kann man auf der Berliner Fanmeile auf der Straße des 17. Juni miterleben. Allerdings werden die ersten WM-Spiele der deutschen Mannschaft auf einer Großleinwand vor dem Olympiastadion übertragen. Erst ab dem Achtelfinale geht es auf der Fanmeile weiter. Es werden mehrere Hunderttausend Fußballfans aus der ganzen Welt erwartet.

Für eine etwas gemütlicherere Atmosphäre, kann man in etlichen Berliner Bars, Stadtstränden, Kneipen, Biergärten und Restaurants an Public Viewing Events teilnehmen.

Wer selbst ein Public Viewing veranstalten will, muss auf der Seite der FIFA eine Lizenz beantragen und kann sich dann z. B. bei www.public-viewing-berlin.de public machen Dort gibt es auch Tipps und die wichtigsten Antragsformulare. Public Viewing ist spätestens seit der WM 2006 überaus beliebt in Berlin, welcher Kneipenbesitzer sich also einen Taler nebenbei verdienen will landet hiermit garantiert einen Treffer!

Last Friday we cook together with our guests in our hostel kitchen. On the menu was “Berliner Kartoffelsuppe”. Backpacker from the Canada, USA and the Netherlands did their first steps in classic German cuisine. And some just discover their very special “freestyle” carrot cutting skills

Under the guidance of Chris our Chef de cuisine, and a few bottles of beer and wine, finally on the end we got a very delicious “Kartoffelsuppe”. We like to thank all of you and we hope that you all enjoy that night. Next Friday from 19:00h you can meet us again in our kitchen and join us for a free dinner. Beef is everywhere..  Social Media, the Web 2.0 is full of conflicts and discussions. Some nice.. some not so nice. But that’s OK. Because that’s what the Web 2.0 is made for. Twitter is a big discussion board, where you can find the freshest news which you can discuss with people all over the global village. Social media is not always about cooperation, friending and liking. Its like real life.. or is real life like Social Media? And once and for all: Where is our dislike button in Facebook??!!

“Vor 20 Jahren bin ich nach dem Sandmännchen ins Bett gegangen und am nächsten Morgen wachte ich in einem Europa ohne Mauern auf”

Vor einer Woche wurde in Berlin groß gefeiert. Hunderttausende Berliner und vor allem Gäste aus aller Welt jubelten als die symbolische Mauer aus 1000 übergroßen Dominosteinen in sich zusammen fiel. Diese Dominosteine sollten die Ereignisse darstellen die vor 20 Jahren zum Fall des eisernen Vorhangs geführt haben. Es war ein wunderbarer Event dem auch viele Staatsgäste aus dem europäischen Ausland beiwohnten. Angestoßen wurden die Steine von wichtigen Persönlichkeiten der Wiedervereinigung. Auch unser Hostel stand voll im Zeichen der Wiedervereinigung. 40 Kids aus Frankreich und Deutschland übernachteten bei uns. Sie gehören zu einer gemeinsamen Gruppe von jugendlichen mit geistiger Behinderung die am Brandenburger Tor zur Wiedervereinigungsfeier einen Auftritt hatten. Es war wirklich schön mit an zu sehen und zu erfahren wie man in anderen Europäischen Ländern über die Wiedervereinigung denkt und das dieser Tag nicht nur ein Deutscher Feiertag ist, sondern in ganz Europa große Bedeutung hat. Wir hoffen das Die Kinder von le Grappillon und Lernmobil viel Spass in Berlin hatten. Wir hatten diesen auf jeden Fall.
