In der ersten Novemberwoche ist es endlich wieder so weit. Vom 3. November 2010 – 6. November 2010 wird sich zu den Berlin Music Days in Berlin die internationale elektronische Musikszene versammeln. Nach dem großen Erfolg der letztjährigen BerMuDa mit über 30.000 Besuchern, Labelmachern, Musikern und Easyjetset, wird dieses Jahr noch einer drauf gesetzt. Im letzten Jahr konnte man in 40 Berliner Clubs zu über 100 Djs und Live-Acts feiern. In diesem Jahr kommt ein reichhaltiges Tagesprogramm in unzähligen Locations verteilt über die Stadt hinzu. Und zum Highlight heißt es dann am Wochenende „Fly BerMuDa“ auf dem ehemaligen Flughafen Tempelhof.

Die Berlin Music Days verstehen sich nicht als eine Musik Messe sondern mehr als ein Festival, einen Querschnitt der Berliner Clubkultur, die natürlich maßgeblich am internationalen Takt beteiligt ist. Ziel ist es elektronische Musik in einer authentischen Umgebung zu präsentieren. Welche Stadt eignet sich hierfür besser als Berlin. Die Hauptstadt der elektronischen Beats. Das Berlin diesen Titel verdient, beweisen Jahr für Jahr die Clubtrouisten die nach Berlin pilgern und die vielen Künstler, Bookingagenturen und Labels die in Berlin ansässig sind. An den 4 Tagen hat man die Möglichkeit das breite Spektrum elektronischer Musik kennenzulernen und man bekommt ein Eindruck davon was hinter den Kulissen passiert. Aber auch Szenekenner können sich austauschen und neues entdecken.

Von Mittwoch an werden die Nächte länger in den Berliner Clubs. Ein internationales LineUp erwartet Euch. Onur Özer, Oliver Koletzki, Omar S, Ellen Allien, Superpitcher, Sascha Funke, Dario Zenker, Till von Sein, Thomas Schumacher und Thomas Koch um nur einige Namen zu nennen. Den Abschluss der BerMuNights wird das Festival der Extraklasse auf dem Flughafen Tempelhof bilden. Das diese Location begeistern kann, hat sie beim Berlin Festival bewiesen. Aber auch das großartige Lineup wird für viele ein Grund sein Berlin einen Besuch abzustatten. Mit dabei sind Paul Kalkbrenner, Sven Väth, Richie Hwtin, Loco Dice, Tiefschwarz und viele mehr. Im Rahmen der BerMuDa veranstaltet De:Bug die Musiktechniktage. Hier könnt ihr kostenlos bei „Native Instuments“, „Ableton“ und „Propellerhead“ reinschnuppern. Oder schaut mal bei den Jungs von Soundclound vorbei, dem jungen Startup mit internationalen Ambitionen.

Auf der BerMuDa ist jeder willkommen, sich zu präsentieren. Ihr könnt Eure Ideen einsenden. „Be Part of It“ Dank des offenen Konzeptes werden auch in Zukunft die Berlin Music Days Interessierte mit ihren Workshops und Showcases nach Berlin locken.

In Berlin the “festival of Lights” takes place for it’s 6th round!

A rather shiny event is awaiting the capital´s guests in October, when the “Festival of Lights” is celebrated there for the 6th time. Across all city – districts several buildings, monuments, sights and other public places will be illuminated with fascinating light projections, so that the nocturnal city walk becomes an unforgettable bright and colourful experience from October 13th till the 24th.

Under the patronage of Berlin´s mayor Klaus Wowereit Berlin´s most famous sights like the Brandenburg Gate, the Dome, the tv-tower at Alexanderplatz and many, many more will glow through the night. This happening is not only nice to watch but also offers a new perspective on all these well known spots that suddenly somehow seem entirely different from what they used to be.

A lot of additional activities will support the festival, like the “Day of open Doors” on the 16th or the “Jazz in the Ministerial Gardens” on the night of the 22nd. For those who enjoy sports and especially running there will be the “City Lightrun” on the 23rd, where the race course follows the illuminated monuments.

One doesn´t have to be an athlete though, thanks to the offers of the “Lightseeing” tours where one can gaze at the light-coloured sights from the water, the land or the air, Naturally there are illuminated objects of interest and attractions not only in main city-centres but also in cool areas, like the Oberbaumbrücke which connects Kreuzberg with Friedrichshain. Berlin is always worth a trip as you all might know, but if you wanna experience it all in a completely different light you should come right now.

1974 the Berlin Marathon started and has appeared annually ever since. Günter Hallas who was the first person who win the Berlin Marathon is still run the marathon today. Maybe you will see him on the 26th of September running through the streets of Berlin.

As Part of the World Marathon Majors, this Marathon is together with races in Boston, Chicago, London and New York one of the most important event in the world. In the last years over 35,000 runners were cheered on by more than 1 million spectators. In 1990 the first Marathon in the reunited City of Berlin led through both parts of the German capital. The Brandenburg Gate was the symbol of freedom and that brought out tears in the eyes of many participants in 1990 when they pass the Gate. The course of the Berlin Marathon is well-known for its sightseeing potential. The course takes runners past several of Berlin’s historic landmarks, such as the Reichstag, Potsdamer Platz, Berliner Dom, and of course the Brandenburg Gate just before the finish line. Here you can take a history lessen by running the Berlin Marathon, ancient buildings mixed between modern hi-tech.

What we will see this year? Nobody knows but the last years guarantee a lot of action. More than one world record has been set on the flat, low-altitude course. 2007 and 2008 the Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie set the new world record and in 2009 he did pass the 30K point in 1:27:49 which is a world record on road. Last year for Marathon U inn Berlin Hostel was full with runners from all over Europe and we looking forward to see them again and wish them good luck on thier 42.195 kilometres.

The BERLIN MUSIC WEEK is Berlin‘s biggest Music Happening of the Year. For the first time Berlin presents the diversity and vitality of its regional and international music scene under a single umbrella brand. From 6 – 12 Sept, Berlin Music Week offers a broad spectrum of events with a musical theme. This decentralised and urban music festival combines all kinds of activities, embracing all genres and business sectors and covering all aspects of popular music, the music industry and musical culture generally. A central event is the joint presentation by Popkomm, all2gethernow and Berlin Festival at the decommissioned Tempelhof Airport. Moreover, Berlin Clubnacht will be celebrating the enormous potential of Berlin’s club culture throughout the heart of the city.

During the Berlin Music Week the entrance hall of the Tempelhof airport willbe converted into a vibrant music city. The programme from 8 – 10 Sept from 10am to 6pm will be diverse, all with free entrance.

(a2n) organizes the conference of the Berlin Music Week. a2n is an open platform for new ideas and strategies in music and culture. a2n invites all involved to share experiences and ideas across all genres and regions. Thinking ahead through creative and collaborative exchange is the main focus.

U-Ton

The historically laden underground station Platz der Luftbrücke will house a showcase projection screen for Berlin labels and publishers during the Berlin Music Week. With the U-TON project, the Berlin Music Week is using an off-site to present the rich diversity of the Berlin music scene. Even before reaching the central Hotspot of the Berlin Music Week, the public can experience fresh Berlin sounds in the southern entrance hall en route to Tempelhof airport. U-TON presents audio and visual highlights in a charming atmosphere, entertaining passing visitors by leading them through the musical spectrum of the capital.

Popkomm

Networking and the extension of international business relations are at the heart of the Popkomm . The marketplace and showcase festival will take place on 8 + 9 Sept at the Tempelhof airport area. The Showcase program will feature 60 bands from across the world. The Berlin Festival It take place at Tempelhof Airport on 10 – 11 Sept. Live experience is the focus with 70 indie and electro acts across three stages. With the festival ticket it’s also possible to visit the popkomm public day on Friday and the all2gethernow forum on Friday and Saturday.

Club Spree Berlin

Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg holds particular significance for Berlin’s nightlife. This cultural district along the river Spree is offering a huge variety of music genres, events, beach bars, and indoor and outdoor venues. Club Spree -Berlin uses solar operated boats to make this exceptional club district come to life as an attractive destination during Berlin Music Week.

Der Frühling naht. Der Schnee schmilzt. Die ersten Schneeglöckchen trauen sich hervor. Und auf Facebook wird man eingeladen der Gruppe “Wärme und Sommer” beizutreten. Also wird es auch Zeit sich ein kleinen Überblick über die kulturellen Events des Frühlings zu verschaffen.

Boxhagener Platz

Pflichttermin für jeden alt, neu, bald oder temporären Fridrichshainer wird wohl in diesem Frühjahr der neue Film von Matti Geschonneck werden. Boxhagener Platz ist ein Heimatfilm oder eine Milieustudie aber auf jeden Fall keine huldigung des Party Kiezes im Berlin Friedrichshain. Sondern eine Zeitreise ins Jahre 1968.

Tischtennis German Open

18.03. – 21.03. 2010

Sportlich wird dieser Frühling mit dem den German Open, der Station der Pro-Tischtennis Tour, in der Max-Schmeling Halle eingeläutet. Stars aus Deutschland und Europa werden sich mit den Assen aus aller Welt messen. Die deutschen dürfen sich bei diesem Turnier gute Hoffnungen machen.

BMT – Berliner Motorrad Tage

26.03 – 28.03. 2010

Auf über 30.000qm Stellfläche in 4 Hallen werden aktuelle Modelle, Kleidung und Zubehör vorgestellt. Den größten Teil wird aber wohl der Showpart einnehmen. Custombikes, Pocketbikes, Stuntshow und vieles mehr, auf der BMT in den Hallen unterm Funkturm.

30. Berliner Halbmarathon

Nicht nur das es der offizielle Saisonauftakt für Läufer, Walker und Inline-Skater ist. Nein der Berliner Halbmarathon ist auch der größte seiner Art und gehört zum festen Repertoire der internationalen Läuferelite. Ist aber natürlich trotzdem noch immer das Sprungbrett für den ambitionierten Läufer von Morgen. Letztes Jahr gingen insgesamt über 25.000 Läufer aus 85 Ländern an den Start.

re:publica 2010

Die re:publica die dieses Jahr zum vierten Mal in Berlin stattfindet ist eine der wichtigsten Social-Media-Konferenzen, auf der sich Blogger treffen und über “nowhere” das “Jetzt und Hier – und Nirgendwo” sprechen werden. Natürlich darf auch fleißig gebloggt werden. Veranstaltungsort ist der Berliner Friedrichstadtpalast und die Kalkscheune.

Achtung Berlin – new Berlin Film Award

14.04 – 21.04 2010

Auch in diesem Jahr werden auf der Achtung Berlin wieder aktuelle Spiel- und Dokumentarfilme präsentiert, die von Berliner oder Brandenburger Filmproduktionen realisiert wurden. begleitet werden die Vorführung  von Filmgesprächen mit Autoren, Regisseuren, Produzenten und Verleihern.

Boxhagener Platz: Ein Berliner Heimatfilm? Für die heutigen Anwohner des Boxhagener Platzes werden sich da wohl so einige Fragen stellen. Ist dieser Film doch im Jahre 1968 angesiedelt, und spiegelt das Leben zwischen der “Studentischen Revolution” in West-Berlin und der Niederschlagung des “Prager Frühlings” im Bruderstaat wieder. Bilder eines “drei Tage wachen” und “drauer druffen” Plüschhasen, der vom Boxi-Kiosk zur Zoohandlung tanzt, mit dem sich der moderne Friedrichshainer wohl ehr identifizieren kann, werden in diesem Film nicht bedient. Nicht einmal der Eckkneipe Feuermelder wird eine Gastrolle zugedacht. Der Regissur Matti Geschonneck(selber am Boxi aufgewachsen) hat dem “durchsanierten” Bezirk Friedrichshain den Rücken gekerht und den Film in Leipzig, Dessau und Halle gedreht. Trotzdem wird der Film wohl zum Pflichtprogramm für jeden der sich unserem Kiez verbunden fühlt.

Sein Film schimmt nicht auf der Ostalgie Welle mit, sondern ist eine Milieustudie, in der es um eine Oma und ihren Enkel geht. Wärend seine Oma gerade ihre besten Jahre durchlebt und nur noch auf den Tot von Ehemann Nummer Sechs wartet, um mit dem Siebenten anzubendeln, versucht ihr Enkel den Mord am lokalen Fischhändler zu klären. Dabei trifft er auf alte Spartatkisten, Kiez-Schläger, Malocher und wichtig tuende Wachmeister. Doch wie soll es anders sein  stößt er schnell an die Grenzen des Arbeiter und Bauern Staates.Vertreten durch die Staatssicherheit.

Also doch irgendwie ein (Ost)Heimatfilm.

Ab 4.3.2010 in bestimmt auch in Euren Kiez-Kinos.

Last Friday we cook together with our guests in our hostel kitchen. On the menu was “Berliner Kartoffelsuppe”. Backpacker from the Canada, USA and the Netherlands did their first steps in classic German cuisine. And some just discover their very special “freestyle” carrot cutting skills

Under the guidance of Chris our Chef de cuisine, and a few bottles of beer and wine, finally on the end we got a very delicious “Kartoffelsuppe”. We like to thank all of you and we hope that you all enjoy that night. Next Friday from 19:00h you can meet us again in our kitchen and join us for a free dinner. And if you like you can get a short crash course in German cuisine.

“Streit” means conflict, controversy or just beef. Why is that the subject of the Social Media Week Berlin (SMWBerlin)?

Beef is everywhere..  Social Media, the Web 2.0 is full of conflicts and discussions. Some nice.. some not so nice. But that’s OK. Because that’s what the Web 2.0 is made for. In the good old times before we learn to “tweet” “blog” “Mash-up” “syndicate” “cast” and play with “widgets” in our sidebar, there was just a static Web page which give us news we believe in, because it came from “the internet”.

Time change! Now we can talk about the news. Or better: We can make the news! But also others can discuss about our news. Some like it some not. In many Blog’s you can find discussions in comment’s about 100 entry’s long.. Twitter is a big discussion board, where you can find the freshest news which you can discuss with people all over the global village. Social media is not always about cooperation, friending and liking. Its like real life.. or is real life like Social Media? And once and for all: Where is our dislike button in Facebook??!!

“Streit! Konstruktive Kontroverse” “Beef – constructive controversy” is a big subject in all Social Media.

This SMWBerlin will be an unconventional but straight forward looking meeting about topics such as music, entertainment, culture, politics and business. Organised by a team of deeply passionate Social media specialists, this SMEBerlin will become a very exciting event for Berlin.
But Social Media is always about participate and learning from each other, its a community event. You all invited to join the the community and get involved. This Event take place in 6 city’s around the world (Berlin, London, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paulo and Toronto).
